J.W. Sodt
Rhymes with "goat."
Also known as P.M. Poster Monkey by the band, J.W. Sodt was born to a couple of printers who live in Bellingham, Washington, where he subsequently grew up and started making comics. His first series of comics is a 9 year old webcomic by the name of Harmless Free Radicals, which he publishes under the name "Fenmere, the Worm." HFR was picked up by the Whatcom Independent Newspaper and printed for 3 and a half years with a circulation of 9,000 a week. During that time, it won 1st place in the 2007 and 2008 Washington Press Association awards in the Weekly Featured Comic division.
Somewhere in there, before the Indy, his obsession with comics got him hired as a poster designer for Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro which ultimately lead to designing labels and the logo for Mallard Ice Cream where he met George B. Hossaphatt (A.K.A. Jumpin G). George was instrumental in prodding Sodt into pushing his comics further and improving his work (helping him to get into the Indy) and ultimately introducing him to several other cartoonists in town. This lead to the creation of The Bellingham School of Comics which, through typical social dynamics, lead to Sodt meeting Sweets.
One day, Sodt was hanging out with George and their mutual friend Shadow when George turned to Sodt and said, "Do you want to be a bass player? I'll teach you!" To which Sodt said, "Sure! But, it just so happens that I'm dating a bass player, and she's desperately looking for a band." Shortly after that, Sir Reginold Cosgrove & His Night Time Singers found their first drummer and went on to play at July 3rd's a Drag at Rumor's Cabaret.
See, this is how Bellingham works.
Four years later, the Whatcom Independent closed its doors, putting Sodt out of a day job. Now he draws comics for a living (though not much of one yet). With more time on his hands and an amazing amount of material produced by the incredibly creative powerhouse of Shadow and Hossaphatt (and the regular antics of the band), Sodt has found himself with yet another comic project.
And that is the story of how It's Easy.
